Detective Enola Holmes, 14, is searching for the wife of Luis Orlando del Campo, who has mysteriously disappeared. Meanwhile, her brother Sherlock (Holmes!) is searching for her to give her a package. The package is from her long lost mother. Enola, Sherlock, and her other brother, Mycroft, will need to solve these mysteries. What happened to their mother? And to Lady Blanchefleur del Campo?
The mystery Enola is solving is connected with her past. When she came to London, two people tried to kill her, but luckily she ran away. This memory of Enola’s will help her find who kidnapped Lady Blanchefleur. Also the memory of what her mother taught her will help her solve the mystery of her mother’s package.
I recommend this book because of the fantastic main character, Enola Homes. She is an independent young woman who solves her mysteries with intelligence, bravery, and style. One of the tools she uses to solve mysteries is to change her identity, which I liked. I also loved the way she spoke, as well as all the language in the book. Her vocabulary included cool words like “enigmatic,” “prattle,’ and “aquiline.” Sometimes it was a little confusing to figure out where they were in London, in 1889, but by the end it became more understandable. All in all, I highly recommend this book.
